"THE GRACE OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST"
"The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen." (Philippians 4:23)
What a gracious way to end this glad letter to the folks at Phillipi. Yet, we find Paul, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, giving us a similar closing in all his epistles. Why? Because to Paul, the Lord Jesus Christ is the most sublime Name that any tongue could utter.
Yes, His Name is the sweetest Name. His Name has soothed and satisfied the most hurting and the hungriest of souls and will continue to meet any need to all who cry out, "Lord, help me."
Consider the Lord Jesus Christ:
He is Lord..........With all power given to Him.
He is Jesus........The Father's beloved Son and our only Saviour.
He is Christ........God's Anointed Priest for eternity; seeing He ever liveth making intercession for his own.
No Name in Heaven is like His. His is the Name that is above all others. His Name perfumes both Heaven above and the Church below. Those who know that beautiful Name never grow weary of hearing it. In that Name we find fullness of joy and pleasures for evermore. Why? Because His Name is Wonderful.
Having Jesus and the grace He gives, we have all we will ever need. But to those who use that Name in a cursing and mocking manner, be it known that a day looms large and near when every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Martin Luther said, "This grace of God is a very great, strong, mighty and active thing. It does not lie asleep in the soul. Grace hears, leads, drives, draws, changes, works all in man, and lets itself be distinctly felt and experienced. It is hidden, but its works are evident"
Oh, thank God for that matchless Grace from Glory that met us where we were one day, but Praise the Lord, it didn't leave us where it found us.
Friends, our worst days are never so bad that we are beyond the reach of God's grace. And our best days are never so good that we are beyond the need of God's grace. Therefore may, "The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you all. Amen."
