The Bruges GroupThe end of the ‘Special Relationship’? Trump is infuriated by the UK’s lack of understanding about our own defence needs.It was bound to happen: Trump will just impose tariffs. An additional 10% on the UK for the insult and the UK’s ‘special relationship’ in tatters.Starmer keeps antagonising the US. Firstly he stopped the UK providing intelligence to the US about Venezuela, now he has sent our army (1 man!!!) to stick a finger up at Trump. So we are defending Denmark’s colony, while Starmer is giving away our own colonies (because he feels guilty about them)! And in the process he is wrecking the UK’s entire defence, which utterly depends on the USA. The US even control our nuclear missiles and their satellite requirements! Starmer is very keen to hand over the reins of power to the EU, but which side does he think we would fight on then, or with whose help?What does it matter to the UK whether the US holds Greenland or not? Sure, it creates a more powerful USA, but unlikely one that would attack and conquer the UK!! Indeed, the USA holding Greenland will provide much better defence to the UK, from both the US ‘Golden Dome’ covering Russian, North Korean or Chinese missiles launched from nearer the North Pole, and from its submarine control of the Antarctic. The US would also command trade routes over the North West passage, which is much preferable to anyone else!So Starmer is not standing up for UK National Interests, if he even knows how to measure them.Now we all have to suffer because of Starmer and his Cabinet’s ego. ‘Standing on Principles’ Starmer may well insist, but those principles need to be prioritised in defence of our Country, Our defence and our trade, jobs and wealth, not against us!
