I NEED TO SAY THIS LOUD AND CLEAR
The silence around this is downright INSULTING.
I will keep bringing her name up because she matters just as much as Renee Good and George Floyd.
A 19-year-old Black woman, DaCara Thompson, was brutally assaulted, murdered, and thrown off a bridge by a man authorities say was in this country illegally. Her life was stolen. Her future was stolen. And yet the people with the biggest platforms suddenly have nothing to say.
Where was the NBA dropping to their knees at center court like they did for George Floyd?
No tribute.
No moment of silence.
No jersey patch.
No statement.
Nothing.
DaCara wasn’t mentioned at the Golden Globes.
They had time for political speeches and virtue signaling, but not a single second for a murdered young Black woman.
Hollywood didn’t wear pins for her.
They wear ribbons, buttons, slogans, and symbols for every cause they’re instructed to promote.
But DaCara wasn’t convenient for their agenda, so they ignored her.
Here’s the reality they will never admit:
If DaCara had been killed by a police officer, her name would be everywhere.
There would be nonstop coverage.
Celebrities would rush to social media.
Brands would change logos.
There would be marches, protests, and hashtags from coast to coast.
But because her killer doesn’t fit the narrative, they pretend she doesn’t exist.
These same voices are quick to honor criminals, but silent when an innocent young Black woman is murdered by someone who never should have been here in the first place.
This level of selective outrage is insulting.
This silence is insulting.
This hypocrisy is insulting.
DaCara Thompson deserved national attention.
DaCara deserved a voice.
DaCara deserved justice.
And the people who claim to care the most abandoned her the fastest.
