Proverbs 28:13 “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
Religion can cover the outside, but it cannot cleanse the inside.
Church attendance, good deeds, giving, titles, and traditions may impress people—but they do nothing to remove sin from the heart.
God is clear: covering sin brings loss, not blessing.
A person may hide sin from others, but never from God. Religious activity without repentance only polishes the chains that bind the soul.
The problem is not a lack of religion.
The problem is unconfessed sin.
But the verse does not end in judgment—it ends in mercy.
God offers forgiveness, not to those who hide, but to those who confess and forsake. Mercy is not found in pretending. Mercy is found in repentance.
Stop trying to cover what only Christ can cleanse.
Come honestly. Come humbly. Come empty.
God does not bless what we hide—He blesses what we surrender.
