Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"
This verse highlights the inherent deceitfulness and wickedness of the human heart.
FEELINGS — They make a poor foundation. They rise and fall, pulling the heart like a yo-yo.
When the heart is ruled by any of your emotions instead of truth, confusion and damage follow.
God did not design the heart to govern itself. The heart needs direction, authority, and truth—not feelings. Without God and His Word, the heart will always drift toward chaos.
That direction is found in the Holy Scriptures. God’s Word creates faith, and faith steadies the heart. When truth rules, feelings fall into place.
You have a choice. Either you will feed your heart righteousness from Scripture or junk from the world. One produces faith and stability. The other produces emotional bondage.
Balance does not come from managing feelings—it comes from submitting the heart to God’s Word.
So instead of saying, “My feelings were hurt,” ask this: Did my faith overcome my feelings?
Proverbs 28:26 “He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.”
Trusting in your own heart is not harmless—it is foolish and deceiving. It leads to damage, not deliverance.
A heart that trusts itself resists correction, rejects truth, and slowly develops a defiant spirit. That defiance does not bring respect; it produces an attitude that is evident to all and offensive before God.
