Almost one hundred years ago Japan was growing and expanding its industrial manufacturing base and building up the empire and it needed vast amounts of oil (energy) to do so. In anticipation of the expansion of the coming world war during the 1930’s President Roosevelt designed a program to limit Japan to acquire all the oil they could not produce or buy. Japan was already engaged in a war in China and desperately needed gasoline and deasil oil to operate their war machines. Japan invaded the Philippines in order to appropriate their oil whether they liked it or not. FDR sanctioned Japan and cut off oil sales to them from all non-Axis countries. This is what prompted Japan to attack Pearl Harbor, they did not declare war on the United States of America. At that time Hawaii was just a possession, not a State and Japan figured that they would bloody the “American nose” to get our attention, warn us not to get involved (mind your own business) and prove that they are serious about obtaining oil on the world market. In truth FDR and Churchill anticipated the attack and worked to instigate the situation in order to facilitate attack. The U.S. populace still had a bad taste in their mouths from WWI and had strong feelings of neutrality. FDR and Churchill knew that the only way to save the world from being overrun by the Hitler and the Nazi’s and now Japan was to convince the American change its mind about WWII. Now President Trump is taking a lesson from FDR and Churchill. The CCP needs oil, lots of oil, they were buying 80% of their oil from Venezuela. CCP’s next chess move is, while they still have enough fuel reserves to sustain a fast attack on Taiwan and try to convince the rest of the world that they don’t want war, they just wanted their property back and did the same thing that Trump did! I don’t know what will happen next.
