Dealing With Disappointment
Romans 8:28
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
I believe one of the hardest parts about the journey of life is dealing with disappointment along the way. Sometimes that disappointment is with others, but sometimes it is the fact that you are disappointed in your own self. Have you ever been asked, “Are you mad at me?” Or, “Are you mad at them?”
You want to say, “I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed.” One of the toughest experiences of life a parent faces is when your child you love dearly disappoints you. Disappointment comes when things do not turn out the way we were hoping or even praying for and when people we love let us down. As Christians we should remember that God teaches us that He can unravel the tangled strands of our life to still serve His purpose in our life.
We should remember that “we walk by faith, not by sight”. As a Christian, I must tell myself it is not my purpose I am trying to live out for my life, but His. That takes faith in God, and especially during the times of disappointment.
What do you do when you pray, plan, prepare, proceed forward, but it just does not turn out the way you were hoping? This is what you do; you put one foot in front of the other and you walk by faith in God. You love God and trust that He will still work things out according to His purpose.
