"AND THE CHILD GREW
"And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water." (Exodus 2:10)
I love those first 10 verses in the second chapter of Exodus. It reveals that God's plans will never be thwarted by any earthly rulers regardless of how powerful they may be.
Behold the Lord working behind the scenes here:
In an attempt to slow the rapidly multiplying Israelite population, nasty old Pharaoh sends out an order that all newborn sons be killed (murdered) at birth. Moses' real mommy, with tears streaming down her cheeks but with trust in God cheering her on, puts her little baby son in a watertight basket and sends it floating down the river.
See big sister Miriam as she watches from among the reeds.
Meanwhile, watch the Lord Himself manning the oars of this homemade raft as He rows the whole shebang right up to where this princess is bathing. When as she pops the lid open on this strange craft, I somehow like to believe that the Lord causes that little bundle of joy to let out a tiny whimper which sweetly touches the heart of this young princess.
With the Lord still at work, Miriam now trots out from her hiding spot, walks over where the princess is now lovingly holding this future prophet and asks if she needs someone to nurse this baby.
When Pharaoh's daughter says yes, I see an excited Miriam taking off like a jet plane and ends up landing none other than Moses' own mother to be the around the clock day/night care worker. She not only serves as the nurse to her own child but receives a paycheck to boot!
You know folks, the puny little minds of man will never outwit or get the best of Almighty God. And it doesn't make any difference if it happens to be a Pharaoh, a Pope, or a President; they'll never alter the Lord's will one jot or one tittle!!
The devil wants nothing more than to somehow keep you and I from GROWING in the Lord and allowing Jesus to work in our lives even though all seems bleak around us. We can be sure that the Lord will always come out on top. As it was then, so it is now. Notice again those words I capitalized here from that verse above, "AND THE CHILD GREW."
Friends, let's determine to be that Child of God that continues to grow in the Lord.
