But GodGenesis 45:8“So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.”Genesis 50:20“But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.”Our verses are taken from the story of the life of Joseph. His life is a testimony of resilient faith in the sovereign God of Heaven and Earth. What a year for Joseph. He was betrayed by his own brothers, sold into slavery, lied upon, tested in the face of great temptation, falsely accused, put into prison, called upon to interpret a dream, put second in command over Egypt, used of God to preserve many people, and was given opportunity to enact revenge upon his brothers. How would he handle his adversity?Near the end of the story we see him not seeking revenge on his brothers, though he had opportunity, but rather forgiving and encouraging them. He let them know that God used it all for His own purpose. Joseph told his brothers you may have meant evil unto me, “but God” was at work and was with him all along the way. Some of you may have had a bad year in 2025 and none of us know what 2026 holds. Sometimes, like Joseph, all we can say is, “but God”.Can you testify of a “but God” moment in your life? We would love to hear about it!
