"GOD'S UNCHANGING GOODNESS IN GIVING"
"The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing." (Psalm 34:10)
Why do you think the psalmist specifies “young” lions? It is for the same reason that Isaiah wrote, "Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:" (Isaiah 40:30)
To be sure, vitality and strength is usually the norm when we were younger. Our mind was flexible and fresh, our body was energetic and resilient, and our spirit was confident and daring when we are young. These are wonderful resources that God gives to us while we were still learning, growing, and maturing.
But even all these advantages will not save them from disappointment or pain in life. The Psalmist wrote, "The young lions do lack." With all their physical prowess and boundless energy, they suffer hunger. The strongest, most talented person on earth will not find lasting satisfaction, or avoid painful injury, by virtue of their strength or talent alone.
Then we read those words, "But they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing." Even the strongest youth will lack fulfillment and suffer disappointment, but anyone. be they young or old, will find success when they seek the Lord. God able to provide what youth cannot achieve, and God is more than able to give us what strength alone cannot obtain.
Friends, what about you and I? Are we relying on our past strength, our present skill, or our future solutions, to deliver us from distress, dissatisfaction, and defeat? Ah, but those who "seek the Lord" are the ones who are ready to receive every good and perfect gift that He is waiting to bestow (James 1:17).
