RestoredPsalms 51:12 “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” The Psalmists often wrote about their everyday experiences. In Psalm 51 a very broken David wrote about his experience with conviction and restoration with God. I am sure, after his sin, momentarily, David thought he had gotten by with his sin. But God knew, and God would never allow David or any of His children to live with sin and live in joy with sin! God wanted to restore David. But first, David must feel conviction and Godly sorrow. His sin must become exceeding sinful within his heart (Romans 7:13). When this took place no one had to convince David he needed restoring. He knew it and he readily confessed, “Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight…” (Psalm 51:4) and “restore unto me the joy of thy salvation”. After David’s heart wringing confession of his sin, David was restored. The joy of God’s salvation was restored. Recently I noticed a man rummaging through an old fallen down house. People salvage old boards, windows, doors, and etc. They take what is broken and restore it in another place. God is the great Restorer. He can take the broken man or woman and restore them in the place He wants them. The only word that explains God’s actions in all this is - GRACE.
