🌍 Earth is drifting through the ancient debris trail of Comet 8P/Tuttle β€” and the sky is responding.
Welcome to the Ursid meteor shower, the final celestial show of the year.
❄️ Best seen from the Northern Hemisphere, the Ursids are quieter and more subtle than the Geminids β€” usually around 10 meteors per hour β€” but they’re famous for surprise outbursts that reward patient skywatchers.
✨ Best viewing window: late night to just before dawn on December 21–22, when the sky is at its darkest and stillest.
πŸŒ™ 2025 is special: a thin crescent Moon sets early, leaving beautifully dark, moon-free skies β€” ideal conditions for spotting shooting stars.
πŸ” Where to look: face north toward the Little Dipper (Ursa Minor). No telescope needed β€” just warm layers, a dark location, and 20 minutes for your eyes to adjust.
Step outside. Look up.
The year’s final cosmic farewell is overhead.
Happy skygazing ✨
