Only By Faith Romans 1:17 “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”2 Corinthians 5:7 “(For we walk by faith, not by sight.)”We find it written three times in the New Testament, “The just shall live by faith”. The Christian between the moment he or she is saved until the moment we die, “we walk by faith, not by sight”, we“live by faith”.Life is full of problems, disappointments, and heartbreaks. Being a Christian does not exempt us from them. Yet, so many try to solve the problems of life like they are mathematical equations. We try to figure them out by asking why, what, and how? There is no secret formula to navigating through the difficulties of life. Sometimes there are no answers for the why, what, and how. Hebrews chapter 11 gives us example after example of those who lived and walked “by faith”. It was “through faith” that they kept pressing on in life. If life could be always figured out, there would be no need for me or anyone to go to God’s Word and exercise and anchor our faith in what is written. Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” It is the truth that we live by faith that keeps life from becoming a meaningless routine with no reward in sight. If we could always figure it out we would not need faith. Through faith we find our identity and purpose for why we are here. Through faith we know God has got whatever we have to face in this life. Through faith the promises God makes in His Word becomes promises written directly to me. It is only by faith that we live.
