AK HouchenThere was a terrorist attack during a Hanukkah celebration in Bondi Beach in Australia. So far, 11 people are dead and 29 are wounded. I pray for the survivors and the families of the deceased.A brave man named Ahmed Al Ahmed saved lives by attacking and disarming one of the shooters. People are calling him the Hero of Bondi Beach, and it’s well deserved.Some people were saying that Ahmed’s bravery is proof that not all Muslims are bad. While that’s true, Ahmed is not Muslim. It has been reported that he is Christian and well known in his local community.If that is true, then in light of his religion, Ahmed’s actions don’t seem all that surprising anymore, do they? Maybe some folks need to ask themselves why that is. In fact, all the religious actors behaved in ways unsurprising to any honest observer.The Muslims did what Muslims do.The Christian did what Christians do.To the surprise of no one.Praying for Ahmed’s full recovery.
