We all get lost some times. When my children were small, I took them into Boston where one of the stores had a marvelous display of a village decorated for Christmas. My sister-in-law came with us as I had five children and we brought along one of my daughter’s friend – six in all! We had a great time walking through the exhibit and then went shopping in the store. We stopped to get something to eat. Then, as the kids were getting tired, we left the store and crossed the street where I counted to make sure we were all together. One, two, three, four, five. I counted again, but only counted 5, one of my daughters was missing. I left the 5 and returned to the store unsure of where she might be, praying all the way. I remembered that the last place we went was to the book department and there I found her looking at the children’s book table. With profuse thanks to God, I hugged her and we rejoined the group. I was terrified when she was missing. I believe that God is just as concerned when one of us goes missing. He doesn’t stop until we are found. There’s a poem called "The Hound of Heaven" that talks about a man searching his whole life for happiness in all the wrong places until he finally stops and realizes God is his happiness, he has been found.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for searching for us until we are found. It is so easy to get lost in the chaos of each day, may I always turn to you to satisfy my needs. Amen.
