ISAIAH 9:6 - “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given…”
Christmas is more than lights, songs, and family gatherings.
It is God breaking into human history with the one thing mankind could never produce on its own—a Saviour. Isaiah looked forward and saw a Child in a manger who would be far more than just a Child. He saw the Son given from heaven itself.
That tiny Baby lying in a feeding trough wasn’t helpless; He was Heaven’s answer to earth’s hopelessness.
The world was dark, violent, corrupt, and confused—just like today. But God didn’t send an army, a politician, or an angel. He sent His Son. And the government—the true authority over the hearts and souls of men—rests on His shoulder alone.
Isaiah piles title upon title because no single word can capture His glory:
Wonderful — He amazes, He surpasses, He stands alone.
Counsellor — He guides the lost, comforts the broken, and speaks truth when the world only offers noise.
The Mighty God — Not “a” god, not a symbolic figure—God Himself in flesh.
The Everlasting Father — He carries the heart of the Father toward His people.
The Prince of Peace — The only One who can calm the storms inside a human soul.
This is Christmas: God stepped into the mess of humanity to bring salvation, not sentiment. He came to rule, to redeem, and to restore. The manger points to the Cross, and the Cross points to the empty tomb. The Child became the Sacrifice. The Son became the Saviour.
So as you see the nativity scene—Mary, Joseph, and the newborn Christ—remember this: He came for you.
He entered this fallen world on purpose, with a mission, and with your name on His heart.
Let this season drive you back to worship, back to gratitude, and back to the simple truth that changes everything: Unto us a Son is given.
