Actress Jennifer Lawrence, a once outspoken critic of President Trump, is pressed by the NYT to be politically outspoken once more, but she doesn't take the bait.
"We all knew; [Trump] said what he was going to do...He was very clear, and that's what we chose," she says of Trump's second term to interviewer Lulu Garcia-Navarro—who ignores this salient point about America voting for Trump and his agenda, again.
"As we've learned, election after election, celebrities do not make a difference, whatsoever, on who people vote for," Lawrence admits. "So then what am I doing? I'm just sharing my opinion on something that's just gonna add fuel to a fire that's ripping the country apart. I mean, we are so divided."
Lawrence adds she doesn't want to "turn people off" to her film or art because they disagree with her politically, and if she can't say something that helps "lower the temperature," she doesn't want to "make the problem worse" by weighing in.
She regrets speaking out so much during Trump's first term, and admits "the second term feels different."
