The lesbian club Le Monocle, Paris, was open from the 1920s until the German occupation of France during WW2, in the 1940s, when homosexuality was persecuted by Nazis.
Le Monocle was owned by Lulu de Montparnasse on the rue Edgar-Quinet, and which was known as a gathering place for the lesbian community in Paris.
