Do You Keep Your Word?Numbers 30:2 “If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.”Matthew 12:36-37“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”“Be a man of your word”, is something I was taught at a young age. The Bible teaches us that our words should be backed up by our actions. The Bible teaches us that we should not break our word and through our words we will be justified or condemned. If we say we are going to… then we should follow through. If something hinders us from fulfilling our word then a person with integrity will say “I am sorry” and back up the apology with reason of why he or she could not fulfill their word. Even if we do not make a promise, we should keep our word. Our word should be as good as if we have made a promise. A Christian who keeps their word is following the pattern that Jesus sat before us; (2 Corinthians 1:20 “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”). Show some character, show some integrity, be a person who keeps their word! Do not make excuses of why you cannot keep your word. Ask God to help you and then be a doer of the words you speak.
