This shot is from the mid 1970s.. likely 1974–1978. And yep, that’s a perfectly normal 1970s contrail photobombing a 1800s setting… proving (as always) that persistent contrails have been around long before anyone invented the “chemtrail” conspiracy.Persistent contrails became much more common in the mid 1970s onward as: Commercial jet traffic increased massively. Widebody jets like the DC-10, L-1011, and 747 became routine. High altitude cruise routes over California expanded. Before that, persistent contrails in film were rare simply due to fewer jets in the sky.
