Giving Thanks AlwaysEphesians 5:18-20 “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”Why is it that it is just one time a year we go above and beyond in our heart being thankful to God and others? In our verses for today, “giving thanks always” is given as one of the marks of a Christian being filled with the Holy Spirit. Now, I may have just given the reason why we as Christians are not daily thankful. A Spirit filled Christian is a thankful Christian. On Thanksgiving Day a person may feel some obligation to be thankful. What else do you do on Thanksgiving Day besides eat? I know of a few people in whom I cannot recall ever saying thank you, to God or anyone. I feel sorry for them. It would do our heart good and the world we live in even better, if everyday we were as thankful as we are this one day of the year. Maybe we that are saved need to seek the filling of the Holy Spirit. And for sure so many in the world should not feel they are so entitled. This I know, I cannot make people be thankful and have a grateful heart. But, in my heart I can be thankful for God’s blessings in my life more than just one day a year.
