Organizers of the 2025 Official Strongman Games stripped Jammie Booker of the Women's Open division title after discovering the competitor is biologically male.
The decision awards the top prize to Great Britain's Andrea Thompson, who finished second.
The controversy erupted during the championships.
Booker, 28, beat Thompson, 43, in a six-event competition that tested the athlete's power through log presses, deadlifts, and overhead carries.
Thompson, a Suffolk-based strongwoman and former Masters division champion, dominated early events like the log press and deadlift but faltered in the final stone loading.

Video footage from the podium ceremony captured Thompson's immediate frustration.
As Booker held up the trophy, Thompson stepped down, appearing to mouth, "This is bullsh*t, can we go?" before walking offstage.
Official Strongman Games issued a statement confirming the disqualification, emphasizing that all participants go by the rules for sex-specific categories.
"It appears that an athlete who is biologically male and who now identifies as female competed in the Women's Open category"
"Official Strongman officials were unaware of this fact ahead of the competition and we have been urgently investigating since being informed."
"Given this, we have disqualified the athlete in question from the Official Strongman World Championships 2025. All athlete points and places will be altered accordingly to ensure that the rightful places are allocated to each of the Women’s Open athletes."
Booker competed in three women's events this year—all under Official Strongman.
A 2017 YouTube video under the name "Jammie Jay" surfaced, in which Booker, then 21, described herself as a "trans woman with a history of abuse.
Mitchell Hooper, 2023 World's Strongest Man, described Thompson's effort as a "champion's performance" after attending the event.
Three-time World's Strongest Woman Rebecca Roberts, sidelined by injury, said,
"Transgender women, people born male, should not be competing in the women’s category," while congratulating Thompson.
Donna Moore, another multi-time champion, affirmed Thompson as the "true winner of World's Strongest WOMAN."
This marks Thompson's second overall title in the competition, following a 2022 runners-up finish and a 2019 third place.
