Will You Also Go AwayJohn 6:66-69 “From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.”The reason that some of the disciples of Jesus went back and walked no more with Him was because of what He was teaching. I’m not sure what point of His message offended them, we just know that something He said did. Jesus wondered out loud would the twelve also go away? Peter was confident they all wouldn’t. Where would they go? Peter, again, was confident they all knew Christ alone held the words of life. But one of them, Judas Iscariot would forsake the Lord, turn away, walk no more with Him, betray Christ, and later hang himself. Peter would deny He knew Christ, but eventually would come back. I know people who once served the Lord but something happened and today they walk no more with the Lord. Thankfully some do come back and I am always glad when they do. It is good to examine where we are with the Lord in our heart. Maybe we should strengthen the things in our heart that remain. Maybe even ask ourselves, what is keeping us from going away from Christ?
