"THANKSGIVING AND THANKSLIVING" "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah." (Psalm 68:19)The 68th Psalm is one of my favorites. It was intended to be used in worship by Israel as a song of victory and deliverance. It recounts the many difficulties they endured and speaks of them being afflicted, oppressed, helpless, sinful, and exposed to hurt and pain.Yet, this Psalm recalls how God provided for His people in their tough and rough wilderness wanderings as well as in the days of bountiful blessing as they journeyed to the Promised Land. In both the good times and the bad, God blessed them and cared for them. His people recognized that and thanked Him for it.Often in the bad times our faith can become frail and frustrating, and we fail to recognize God’s hand of blessing. We tend to look on the problems and allow them to pull us down. At times, we may not even see the Promises of God at work in our situation, but our Saviour is always on hand with a ready supply of problem-solving answers and His promised blessings! Therefore, it behooves us to be thankful every day of the year because of all of His daily benefits He lovingly bestows.Friends, let's remember that with the dawning of each day He gives multiple blessings. May this Thursday's Thanksgiving be one of Truthful Thanks-living.
