Humans have been living in space, without a single break, for 25 years!
Since November 2000, the International Space Station has been continuously home to humans. And in that time it’s become one of the most productive science labs ever built.
Up there, astronauts grow plants without soil, recycle 98% of their water, study how the brain and body adapt to space, sequence DNA, and grow perfect protein crystals that help researchers develop new treatments on Earth.
They’ve 3D printed tools, tested robots and medical tech, grown stem cells, and even created the fifth state of matter (something nearly impossible to study down here!).
And it’s not just NASA. More than 25 countries, hundreds of companies, and over a million students have taken part in space station science.
Not bad for 250 miles up.
