The Manifestation Of PrideProverbs 11:2“When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.”I believe that to a degree everyone in their own heart has to deal with the evil the Bible calls pride. Pride lurks in every person and can hide itself, deceiving us to believe we have conquered it and its danger. But if it comes or if it manifests itself it can cause a host of other problems and sins. Somewhere down the road called Pride Boulevard, if a detour is not taken, one will end up at a place called Shame. The house of Shame is decorated with disgrace and dishonor and reproach. Proverbs 13:10 tells us that pride is where contention originates and Proverbs 16:18 lets us know that the life that is full of pride will end in destruction. Nothing good can ever come from our pride. But our verse for today also lets us know when we become “lowly” or humbled it is then we can find the wisdom to keep our pride suppressed and out of our way from living for God. The first step of humility every person needs is realizing one’s own need of God and accepting His salvation that is given through Jesus Christ. Being born again and walking with God in humility is much better than letting our pride have its way with us.
