God’s Purpose For Your Life Matthew 10:39“He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.”In the first part of Matthew 10 Jesus was preparing His disciples to be sent out to witness and He spoke to them about the persecution they would face. He spoke to them about how a life for Him could even put one at variance with one’s own family. Not everyone understands a person who has totally given their life to Jesus Christ. Our text verse reminds us that Jesus Christ has His own Lost & Found department. In order for one to find their true identity and purpose in life, they must first loose their own life. Such is the exchange of a life being lived for self exchanged for a life lived for Christ. The characteristic of such a life is first losing his life for Christ’s sake. When that happens he can find both identity and purpose in a life for Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is reminding us that we must lose ourself for His sake. I am convinced that a lot of people know much about Christ and living the Christian life. But those same people live miserably. Why? Because their life is all about self. Such people have never lost their life for Christ’s sake.
