Don’t Abandon Your Place Proverbs 27:8“As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.”The word “place” in our verse means a station or post. It can also mean home. The word “wandereth” means to retreat or depart. In the military they call this action described in our verse abandoning your post. In the military this desertion can carry severe penalties, even a court-martial. Every Christian has a post appointed to them by God. In 2 Timothy 2:3 we are told to “endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ”. As a Christian I have been privileged to have been given the post of a husband, father, son, pawpaw, pastor, preacher, ministry leader, witness, and maybe others. As a Christian if I abandoned any one of these posts I would be abandoning all of them!If you are a Christian, I am sure you can think of the various posts God has given you.Don’t abandon your post!!Stay the course!Endure any and all hardness as a good solider of Jesus Christ!Flee any and all the temptations that might come your way!Some time ago I was in a church and heard a family sing the special selection for the service. I noticed that dad was not singing with the family. Just mom and the teenage/adult children. I was told that years ago dad abandoned mom and their small children. They haven’t seen him since. How sad! How tragic! I am glad his wife and children were still serving God and they remained in their post. May we who are Christians remain faithful!
