I don't work like that any more. But I did. For 15 years as civilian at one job, for 4 years at 2 jobs right before that one, and 20 years in the military before those. The only whining I did was one time when we worked 12-hour shifts for 90 days to try doing something that wouldn't work after doing the exact same thing a year earlier that didn't work. At one time I was eligible for food stamps. Did I get them? Did I even bother to look into the idea? Nope. Never even considered it.
