From the 13th Amendment to the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (2000) and beyond, Congress has passed laws, but trafficking has only expanded into a global, multi-billion-dollar industry.
Nearly 500,000 trafficking hotline contacts have been made since 2007, with over 27,800 child sex trafficking reports in 2024 alone.
America’s Future is launching a new series on anti-trafficking legislation, starting with the SAVE Girls Act (2025) introduced by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) with Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) & Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS). The bill seeks $50M to stop child & young women smuggling at the border.
