Take Ye Away The Stone John 11:39 & 41“Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days… Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.”I noticed here at the tomb of Lazarus Jesus asked them to “Take ye away the stone…”At His on tomb, when Mary Magdalene came to the tomb of Jesus the stone was already “taken away” (John 21:1). What do we learn?I think we learn that sometimes God asks us in our faith to do things for ourselves before we can see the miracle take place. Both the resurrection of Lazarus and the resurrection of Jesus were a miracle. With the resurrection of Lazarus, Jesus asked those standing by to remove the stone. Their obedience to His request would be an act of faith. At His own resurrection, man had nothing at all to do with it. When Mary got to the tomb, the stone was already rolled away. It was purely an act of God’s power. Both were miracles, but one miracle was preceded by an act of obedience. Perhaps today God is willing to do a personal miracle for you, but is He first asking something of you? Is there an act of faith that you need to obey before your miracle follows?
