Just some info: 85% of the American beef market is controled by 4 companies: JBS (which is owned by Brazil) Tyson, Cargill, and National Beef. Just this week it was announced that Tyson and Cargill would enter into a settlement of $87.5 million dollars for alledgedly price fixing beef prices. Previously Tyson has reached a seperate settlement for $85 million dollars for alledgedly fixing pork prices. And JBS has also settled a lawsuit for $83.5 million dollars for alledgedly price fixing beef prices. So a total of $256 MILLION to settle lawsuits accusing price fixing in our meat markets. And these are just recent settlements. All the companies deny they have done anything wrong. So if we are looking to lower cost- perhaps the FIRST place to look would be the Big 4 Packers who control 85% of the American Beef market. Just my opinion.
