Identifying The LordJohn 21:6-7“And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.”After the resurrection of Jesus, Peter and some of the other disciples go fishing. The Bible tells us that they fished all night and caught nothing. But in the morning they saw someone on the shore who called out to them to “Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find.” They obeyed and their net was loaded with fish. John immediately recognized it was the Lord! When Peter heard it was Jesus, he got out of the boat and went unto Jesus. John knew this was not the first time they got a net full of fishes after a time of failure. His past experience with the Lord helped John to identify Jesus in his present experience of failure. Presently, they were also distraught and bewildered and confused about what to do. Jesus was no longer with them in a physical, bodily form. But that did not mean the Lord did not know where they were and it did not mean He would no longer help them. In our times of need we should look for Jesus! He is never far from His children in such times. And He stands willing and wanting to help us.
