Ephesians 2:5 (KJV) Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)❤️ The Message of Ephesians 2:5You weren’t just bad — you were d e a d.But God, rich in mercy, reached into your death and gave you life — not because you deserved it, but because of His grace. This verse is the gospel in miniature:Dead in sin → Made alive in Christ → Saved by grace.🔹 1. “Even when we were d e a d in sins”This speaks of spiritual death — separation from God.Before salvation, every person is dead in trespasses and sins (Eph. 2:1). That means we had no spiritual life, no fellowship with God, and no ability to please Him. Our souls were alive in body and mind, but dead toward God, dominated by sin and self-will.🔹 2. “Hath q u i c k e n e d us together with Christ”To be quickened means to be made alive.God didn’t just repair us; He resurrected us spiritually. When Jesus Christ rose from the dead, those who trust in Him are made alive with Him.This happens the moment a sinner believes — regeneration. The same power that raised Jesus from the grave raises the believer from spiritual death into new life.🔹 3. “By grace ye are saved”Here Paul pauses his sentence to emphasize the foundation of salvation — grace.Grace means unearned favor. We are saved not by works, merit, or effort, but entirely by God’s mercy and love shown through Christ. We did nothing to deserve this life — it was given freely to those who believe.
