“Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall bring forth fruit in old age, they shall be fat and flourishing.”
--- Psalm 92:13-14
I don’t want to be blown over by sin, false doctrine, and shallowness. I want to be planted. I want to be unmovable from those things that erode over time and wear me down. I want to be a fruit tree and not an unproductive sucker vine. The fruit I bear is that it remains in the form of scripture applied, people disciplined, and lives changed through my influence.
I don’t want to have it any other way because eternity is too long, souls are in balance, and I can’t afford to waste my life. One day I will have to make an account for it. I don’t want to wind up like a dry, fruitless, shallow tree with nothing to show for my existence. I want to flourish, I want to continue all my life, and I want to never back down or give up.
The Psalmist says to do this, I must be planted in the house of the Lord. There is no substantial growth outside of the church of the living God. There is no excuse to not be a part of one. I believe many of you desire to fill our churches with fruit trees instead of dry vines. Join me in making this desire a reality, not a pipe dream.
