Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado received the Nobel Peace Prize for promoting democratic rights in her country.“When authoritarians seize power, it is crucial to recognize courageous defenders of freedom who rise and resist”, the Norwegian Nobel Committee said in its citation.
