Hope For The FutureJeremiah 29:10-11“For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”The king of Babylon had come upon the people of God, burned the city with fire, and took away many into captivity. Their future looked hopeless. It should be said that their captivity was the judgment of God due to their disobedience, their idolatry, and failure to keep the covenant God had made with them. Sin has consequences and for the Christian sin brings upon us God’s chastisement. But God never abandons those that are His. Through Jeremiah, God promised to give Israel an “expected end” or a hopeful future. His thoughts were ever toward them and His thoughts for them were thoughts of peace and not evil. Though they had forsaken Him, God’s plan for His people had not changed. I firmly believe that God still has a hopeful future for all of His people. Have you ever considered that God has a plan for your life? Are you interested in what His will is for your life? Do you believe your future with God is full of hope?
