What Is Sin?Let us answer my title question Biblically.Romans 14:23 says, “…for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” James 4:17 says; “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” 1 John 3:4 says, “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.” And 1 John 5:17 says, “All unrighteousness is sin:…”I believe the best way to define sin is to let God speak for Himself through His Word the Bible, on the subject. I believe this is the best way to find the truth on any subject. Does God have anything to say about what we are talking about? Some want to believe that there is really no such thing as sin. I feel that those who want to say there is no such thing as sin, really want to say there is no such thing as God. To admit that something is a sin, may turn to the same one having to admit they are a sinner. For one to admit that one is a sinner, that turns to the admission that there is a God in whom to which they are accountable.Daniel reminds us in Daniel 2:28 that there is a God in heaven. God, Jehovah, alone has the right to define sin. And God says in Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” The word “all” in this verse means everyone. According to God we are all sinners. But God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, into the world to save us sinners. This is the Good News among the bad. Thank God that we can change.2 Corinthians 5:17“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
