The Comfort Of God Through A Good Friend 2 Corinthians 7:5-7 “For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears. Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus; And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.” To be tired in body and troubled in mind and spirit is not a good place for a Christian or really anyone to find themselves. Paul was at this point. He was physically tired, his “flesh had no rest”. He was “troubled on every side”. There were fightings without and fears within. This left Paul feeling “cast down”. But God brought comfort to his body, mind, and spirit. That comfort came from Paul’s trusted friend Titus. Titus gave Paul a greeting from the church and a report of how they desired, even mourned, and was fervently minded of Paul. Titus was comforted through the church’s concern for Paul. Titus combined their comfort with his and together they brought comfort to Paul at the right time. To know people are thinking of you and praying for you definitely helps in times of despair!! Back in chapter 2 Paul wrote how he had missed Titus and was even looking for him. Now God had sent Titus. Today I challenge you to listen to God, it may be that He wants to send you to a friend that needs your comforting presence.
