"THE WELLS OF SALVATION AND SATISIFACTION" "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." (John 4:14)The Lord Jesus painted a wonderful picture of salvation and satisfaction in this verse. The salvation Jesus gives is like an artesian spring which doesn't have to be pumped. But sadly, not every Christian's experience matches Jesus' description of satisfaction.Many folks are more like an old rusty farm pump which has to be pumped and pumped. Then, just as a trickle of water begins to drip, they have to pause and rest because they're worn to a frazzle in an attempt to find satisfaction by some other means. After that, they lose their prime and the water stops, and they have to start all over again. That's the reason why so many live their life going up and down like a yoyo looking for some new way to quench their thirst.Now, Jesus said here we would never thirst. This doesn't mean that one drink satisfies us forever, but as we continue to avail ourselves of this water of life daily, we will be constantly refreshed by the deep Well of His Word.The Well of our Lords's life and His lessons are there for us to draw from, but we must come and joyfully partake of the water which He provides. Hear our Blessed Saviour say one long ago day, that's indeed applicable today, "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." (John 7:38)The dryness in a Christian's life comes when they substitute other things for the living water that only Jesus can give. Anytime a Child of God begins to thirst for something else, it's not a reflection on the living water that Jesus offers them, but rather an indication that they have been drinking from some other well.Friends, draw deep from God's wells and continue to draw every day. For the Lord promises an everlasting joy that they will never thirst for anything else!
