What Happened to America? From Patriots to Sheep
By Mansplaining Mike
America wasn’t founded by sheep. It was founded by men and women who refused to be ruled, taxed, and censored by a distant empire. The Revolutionary generation wasn’t asking for safety or handouts — they were demanding freedom. They knew liberty was dangerous, risky, and hard. That was the point.
Fast-forward to today, and both the left and the right have traded that fire for comfort and control. The left wants an all-powerful government to babysit their every move, tax away responsibility, and “protect” them from offensive words or ideas. But the right? Don’t fool yourself — they’ve become sissies too.
The Right’s New Weakness
Conservatives used to preach independence and self-reliance. Now a big chunk of the right has turned into the “govern me, daddy” crowd. They want government to protect Israel’s feelings by policing speech. They want to use the state to decide who can or can’t own a gun — even pushing to strip transgender people of Second Amendment rights. Instead of standing on principle, they’re begging Big Brother for special exceptions. That’s not liberty. That’s cowardice.
If you believe the Second Amendment is there to protect the people, then it applies to everyone — even the people you don’t like. The real solution isn’t handing more power to government; it’s dealing with the root problems. Reopen mental hospitals. Restore people to proper mental health. When they’re stable, their rights should be restored. Bring back capital punishment for violent offenders. Stop pretending that trading away rights will somehow make us free.
The Left’s Old Dependence
Meanwhile, the left keeps doing what it’s always done: demanding a massive, bloated government to feed, clothe, and police them. They call it progress, but it’s really dependence. They cheer endless foreign aid while our borders collapse. They celebrate surveillance as “safety.” They demand censorship as if the Bill of Rights is just an outdated suggestion.
Bread and Circuses for All
Both sides are being played. The elites hand out bread and circuses — cheap goods, endless entertainment, and distractions on screens — while freedom gets quietly strangled. Americans are so used to grazing in comfort that they don’t even notice the fences closing in.
The Real Choice
The Revolution wasn’t about comfort; it was about independence. Our ancestors picked up muskets against the strongest empire on earth because they’d rather die free than live as subjects. Now, too many Americans — left and right — are begging to be subjects again.
The choice is simple: keep grazing as sheep, or remember who we are supposed to be — a free people who don’t wait for permission, who don’t beg for protection, and who don’t surrender rights in exchange for comfort.
Freedom isn’t safe. Freedom isn’t easy. But it’s the only thing that makes us Americans.
