The problem with trying to save the world is it never turns out like you expect. There is a common phycological exercise that consists of asking the question, “If you were able to go back in time and had the opportunity to assassinate Adolf Hitler in 1933, before he came to power; would you actually do it?” Would you have been justified? Absolutely NOT! Yes, Hitler undoubtedly deserved to be stopped before he murdered over 6 million people. However, reality dictates that this effort would probably have been futile. The political and economic environment in Germany at that time was such that the Nazi agenda had already taken root in the national identity and Hitler would have easily been replaced by another despot just as bad or worse. In order to prevent WWII, you have had to have stopped the cause at the root. The seeds to that cause were planted at the Treaty of Versailles after the Axis powers surrendered unconditionally. The Allied powers unwisely extracted revenge by inflicting undo punishment upon all the citizens of Germany. France, England and America imposed extremely punitive measures upon Germany that were designed to prevent their membership in the League of Nations, devastate the German military, cede territory to Allies, extracted almost $500 billion in reparations, (today’s money). The anger, hatred, revenge and ‘cruel and unusual punishment exhibited by the Allies at Versailles is remnant of conflict resolution in a kindergarten class. Over emotional, immature self-centered reactionary conduct on both sides prevailed and a spark from the smoldering embers of the recent conflict started to grow again. SO, THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR THE POLITICAL ASSASSINATION EVEN IF THE INTENTION OF SAVING THE WORLD! Even if you eliminate one evil minion from this Earth, Satan will send another evil minion will take his place – and another, and another, and another, etc. You can’t kill a dandelion by pulling the flower off the top, you have to pull it out at the root. After WWII the Marshall Plan was put into effect which was totally antithetical to the ‘Treaty of Versailles’. Compassion not revenge, generosity not reparations, co-operation not coercion; so far, so good – 80 years of world peace.
