Tackling Crimes Against Children in the Digital Space – The ENFORCE Act
This week we reviewed the ENFORCE Act, a bill introduced in the House to strengthen federal law against child sexual abuse material, including AI-generated content. The legislation criminalizes the production of child pornography for interstate or foreign distribution, removes the statute of limitations for obscene depictions of child abuse, requires sex offender registration for these crimes, treats obscene depictions the same as child pornography in court, and expands penalties and protections for victims.
The ENFORCE Act has strong support from national child protection groups, who say it closes critical loopholes and gives prosecutors the tools they need to pursue offenders and safeguard children.
Tonight’s newsletter will provide a full analysis of congressional efforts addressing crimes against children in the digital space.
