"GO THIS WAY, NOT THAT WAY" "And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of THIS WAY, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem." (Acts 9:1-2) (caps mine in verse 2)I've always loved that little title, "THIS WAY", that the world used in describing believers during those early days of Christianity. Those Christ rejecters used it in coldness, but to those Christians back then, it gave them boldness. Can't you almost visualize our Saviour seated in Glory back then with a Holy smile on His face at such goings on?What better name could be given to those who trusted Christ and Christ alone for salvation than the words "THIS WAY?" Why, even the very words of our Lord to ole Thomas, who was always doubting everything that came down road, surely gave those disciples the greatest reason to rejoice when being included with those of "THIS WAY." For we find that John 14:6 trumpets that great truth earlier declaring, "Jesus saith unto him (Thomas), I am THE WAY, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me". (caps mine again)But today, I fear that for many Churches it's no longer "THIS WAY", but "THAT WAY" because of what they teach and preach! Many folks believe the plan of salivation is received by water, or by works, or by wonders. That's a sad way to live and then die, isn't it?Do you remember watching those old westerns on T.V. where some posse would be chasing a band of bad guys? They would ask somebody, "Which way did they go?" The answer was always the same, "THEY WENT THATA WAY!" Those old crooks, rustlers, and card cheats back then never wanted to go in the direction of "THIS WAY" of Truth that resulted in Life, rather, they preferred going "THAT WAY" of Lies which ended in Death. Proverbs 14:12 and 16:25 tell us all we need to know about "THAT WAY" doesn't it?How about you friend? Are you among those who love "THIS WAY" of TRUTH and RIGHTEOUSNESS which leads to life, or are you just lumbering along with those THIEVES and ROBBERS of John 10:1 who would rather go THAT WAY which leads to death?
