Satisfaction In Christ John 4:28-29“The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?”Every time I read this passage in John 4:1-30 I always find it a wonder that the woman who came to draw water from Jacob’s well left her water pot behind after meeting Jesus Christ. To me this pictures how Christ brings the living satisfaction in a life that the world can never give. Daily drawing from the wells of the world never truly satisfies. This woman who had desperately tried to find true love and acceptance in life (she had had 5 husbands and was currently living with a man- John 4:18) found both unconditional love and acceptance in Jesus when she met Him. Daily she thirsted for true love and total acceptance. Daily she drew from the world’s well and found there was no lasting satisfaction from those wells. But when she met Jesus Christ, she met the Source who gave her “a well of water springing up into everlasting life” (v. 14). She drank by faith, from the one fountain that was so satisfying that she never would thirst again… and she “left her water pot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” I know it is true that Jesus Christ offers unconditional love and acceptance. The Bible tells me so, and I myself have drank from the same well this woman drank from!“All my life long, I had panted,For a drink from some clear spring,That I hoped would quench the burning,Of the thirst I felt within.Hallelujah! I have found Him,Whom my soul so long has craved!Jesus satisfies my longings,Through His blood I now am saved.”
