From Churchill to Today: Europe’s Existential ChoiceMore than a century ago, Winston Churchill issued a warning that reads like a prophecy for our time. In his 1899 book The River War he wrote:“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy… No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith… and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science…the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.”We are now living through the very clash he foresaw. Mass immigration, demographic transformation, and the rise of a militant ideology inside Europe’s own borders. Our leaders opened the gates, and now entire nations are waking up to the cost.History was trying to warn us. Churchill saw it clearly. The question is, do we still have the courage to defend our civilisation, or will Europe fall as Rome once did?
