What Do You Want From God?Proverbs 3:13-15“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.”Proverbs 8:11“For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.”In 1 Kings chapter 3 we read that God spoke to Solomon, “Ask what I shall give thee.” Solomon asked for a wise and understanding heart so that he could righteously judge the people of God. Solomon’s request pleased the LORD. In Proverbs chapter 3 Solomon reminds us that having wisdom and understanding is of more value to us than having silver, gold, and precious rubies. Solomon should know this because God was so pleased with his request He not only gave him a wise and understanding heart, He also gave him riches and honor. Today God makes His wisdom and understanding available to all people. But, it is found in His Word, the Bible. Therefore we must open the Bible and search for it to obtain its reward. If God were to say to you, “Ask what I shall give thee”, what would you ask for?
