Who Can Be Saved?
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
If one read verses 9 and 10 from 1 Corinthians chapter 6 they would be left thinking that here are some people that can never be saved. But then we read verse 11 and hope springs forth!!
1 Corinthians 6:11 - “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
Verse 11 lets us know that anyone can be saved, when they are willing to, by faith be washed, and sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
“And such were some of you…”; the salvation of Jesus made the difference! Some were once like those described in verses 9 and 10, but their faith took hold of the Word of God and their fetters that had them bound to their sin fell off! But verses 9 and 10 shows us also that some people are not saved and they will not enter into the kingdom of God. But again, reading verse 11 shows us that by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8, 9) anyone can be saved. It is a wonderful truth to know, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”- Romans 10:13
