Jesus Is Lord
Romans 10:9-10
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Nowhere in the Bible can we find any support that says one can confess Jesus as their Saviour, but deny Him as Lord. I admit that when I was saved I did not know much about the truth that Jesus Christ was also my Lord. But it did not take me long to understand and know that there would be no lasting peace in my heart until I obeyed Him as Lord. The Holy Spirit was going to see to it that I knew Jesus was not only my Saviour but also my Lord. In Romans 10:9 and 10 we confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord.
In Romans 10:13 we are admonished to call upon the name of the Lord in order to be saved. The point the Bible makes is the Lordship of Jesus Christ is inseparable from Him also being Saviour. You cannot have Jesus as Saviour but deny Him as Lord. Maybe this gives us light into why Jesus asked in Luke 6:46 “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”
There is a strange species of believers today believing they can confess Jesus Christ as Saviour but in life and obedience deny Him as Lord. The New Testament supports no such doctrine.
