The old SP 2355 steam locomotive resting in Pioneer Park in Mesa, AZ that us kiddos played on in the late 50's early 60's is undergoing a cosmetic restoration after the years of abuse us brats gave it. A full operating restoration was ruled out as too costly. One of ten built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1912 it is a class T-31 ten wheel. The only other survivor is in a museum in Campo, CA.It was closed to public access by fencing sometime in the 1990's and was nearly sold for scrap in 2007.
